Over the past four decades with the support of a visionary community of donors, Africare has lead the way in achieving measurable progress in improving the lives of millions of people on the continent of Africa. You can assure that millions continue to benefit from Africare’s work by supporting the “Bishop John T. Walker Memorial Dinner (BWD) Gala and the 40th Anniversary of Africare”on November 5, 2010, at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. This year Africare and The Hutchison Design Group hired Don Napoleon as the Stage Manager to this high profile event.

This year’s gala event honored His Excellency Nelson R. Mandela for his lifetime commitment to freedom in South Africa and his contribution to peace for all mankind. Africare also presented two other special awards, the Bishop John T. Walker Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award, which recognizes the work of an individual or individuals who have made a significant difference in Africa to Ngozi N. Okonjo-Iweala, PhD, Managing Director of the World Bank and the Corporate Award which honors a business that has been a stalwart supporter of Africare over the years to Rex W. Tillerson, Chairman and CEO of Exxon Mobil Corporation.
